I'm so tired of seeing the same premise in these 'quirky' comedies. There is an awkward nerdy boy, he gets picked on, a pretty girl likes him, his life ends with less sadness than when it started. My question to the powers that be is: where are the female equivalent of these movies? For every 13 'I'm a boy nerd' movie there is like 1.5 'I'm a girl nerd' movie. She needs love too. And I'm not talking about the 'un-popular' girl who wears glasses and once they are removed she is Rachel Leigh Cook.
Just think of Napoleon Dynamite, Superbad, Rushmore, and Rocket Science, all the same idea here. We get it, nerdy boys are cute and great once you really get to know them and see how cool they truly are. I just wish being an awkward insecure girl was cool.
