Stuff White People LIke: Snowboarding!

When I'm at work, I love to peruse through stuffwhitepeoplelike.wordpress.com. It's actually one of my favorite blogs. My friend Robyn gave me this little gem during spring break of this year. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

The guy who writes this blog was at one time a candidate for a PhD program at some Ivy League school (so I heard). The blogs are hilarious and so true. The Snowboarding post hit home because I grew up in Hood River, Oregon and almost all the white kids were into it. They were mostly the obnoxious boys with the stupid northface coats and they said things like, "Dude, I'm going to shred the sick-nar this Saturday" Translation: "I'm going to go snowboarding this Saturday." Never have I been interested in Snowboarding or Windsurfing. People would ask me why I wasn't "outdoorsy" and say things like:

white person: "You're from Hood River? How come you don't snowboard?"

Me: "Because, it's a white person sport"

Offended white person: "that's kind of racist"

stuffwhitepeoplelike.wordpress.com has validated my statement. And remember...

As a white person, I can vouch for the acuity of the observations made at Stuff White People Like. When I first found it not long ago, it was a shocking insight into my own life. It knew things I had never told anyone, like the deeper reasons why I threaten to move to Canada.
