Mix-Great Monday: Marb$ style

1. Song That Speaks to my Soul: ZOE- "LOVE"

I used to sing this song at an intense volume when I owned a car. The band Zoe make beautiful and unique music. I usually hate love songs, but this one is adorable. It's not cheese-tastic at all.

2. The Throwback: El General- "MUEVELO"

Let me take you all back to the summer of 1991. My parents took me and my brother to Mexico for a couple of months. I was 5 at the time and my brother Joel (the "J" sounds like an "h" because we're Brown) had just turned 3. The first night we were there, my teenage aunt decides to create a spontaneous dance party by putting on El General. We created a circle and little Joel put his hands behind his head and starts to shake his hips. He stole the show and charmed the room. Everyone knows a dancing baby is the key to peoples hearts. After that night, my mom bought us El General's tape and I've secretly loved it ever since.

3. The Guilty Pleasure: Don Omar- "Virtual Diva"

The first time I heard this song I was in my friend Ariel's BMW with the wind in my hair and with a bass that went boom! It was so appropriate. The video for this song is creepy, but this song is so delicious. I have yet to hear it at a club and dance to it. I just love how reggaeton doesn't sound like reggaeton anymore. It mixes a lot more electronic sounds and it's ditched the crazy snare drums and I love it!

4. Song that is like Roses and Chocolate: Wisin y Yandel feat. Aventura- "Noche de Sexo"

The first time I heard this song I was appalled. I think I probably blushed a little. This song fits this category completely, it's a song about a night of just pure sex. It's so wrong, yet it feels so right. Romeo from the bachata group Aventura is my new boyfriend (yes, that's what he goes by). When he sings the chorus, I believe everything he says. Listen to Romeo speak in the beginning--how charming is he?! Our friend Leti introduced it to us during finals. I think I avoided my homework and watched this a million times. At about 3:15, he begins to thrust on a stool. I laughed so hard I nearly cried. It was ridiculous! But yet why do I still love it?!

5. SPECIAL MICHAEL JACKSON EDITION: Jackson 5- Dancing Machine

What is Marble$ favorite Michael Jackson song? Trick question, I don't have one because I like almost all of them. There is no hierarchy when it comes to Michael. We are doing our own special tribute because we can't deny the influence he's had on pop culture and the entire world. Dangerous was one of my first tapes I owned and my mom let us play Thriller all the time in our house. I chose Dancing Machine because I think it's underrated. I've always loved the bass line to this song and the robot he busts out in this is amazing. RIP
