I Heart Shiny Things blog was founded on the belief of "keeping it really real". There are no limits, boundaries, and nothing is ever black & white--it just is.
We view the world from the standpoint of the "weird Brown girl." Never fitting into a neat little box, we decided to blur lines, embrace hybridity, and just make shit happen. Armed with a love of style, make-up, television, music, movies, and sass, we created the blog as a scrapbook of what we "heart".
To really capture the essence of who we are and the people we represent, you must understand this scenario:
Two small-town Brown girls that listen to Imogen Heap and Daddy Yankee all at once. They can keep up with celebrity gossip, trends, and all things fierce. On top of this, they can discuss critical race theories, break down social power dynamics, and care about the betterment of marginalized communities. They do all of this while wearing the biggest earrings they can find and get their nails did. We are $Cruz and Marb$, nice to meet you.
