I can't deny this anymore. Lady Gaga's music and style has seeped into my soul. It feels good to say it out loud. I loved Just Dance, but I think I like Pokerface better. She emerges from the water with a disco ball mask! Fierce. She even manages to pull off a slinkier/futuristic flight attendant look like in Britney's Toxic video. I didn't even think that was possible! Below is a shiteous quality of Pokerface from MTV. Catch the HD version here on YouTube (they wouldn't let me embed. bastards).

Hater Jueves: Camping
Someone explain this one to me! My co-worker and I were discussing the various Music festivals that are coming up and the issue of camping came up. He can't go to a music festival if there is no camping involved. That makes no sense! I have NEVER liked camping. In grade school and middle school, we were forced go camping, windsurfing, and skiing. Ew. (what up columbia river gorge!) I'm all for the aesthetic value of the outdoors--I'm a Hood River girl for life. However, I HATE doing anything outdoorsy. Why would anyone CHOOSE to sleep outside and opt out of showering for a couple of days?
Camping used to scare the shit out of me. I had one friend who would insist on having sleepovers in her tree house. It was cold, damp, and dark. Brown kids are not meant to camp. We have to worry about the Sasquatch and la llorona lingering outside of our tents. That shit is mad stressful.
HATER THURSDAY: Miley's Face
Miley Cyrus is arguably one of the most annoying people on the face of the earth. But you know what I really hate? This face:

Mix-Great Monday: Marble$ gets it crackin'
Because I would rather do anything else BUT homework...
leaves falling - lullatone
Close your eyes when you listen to this. It takes me back to a time when I would turn a cardboard box upside down and host tea parties on it. I'm pretty sure that when teddy bears fall in love, this song plays in the background.
2. The Throwback:
I could recite the entire song when I was 14/15 years old. In fact, it was one of my talents I shared with my math class. This song takes me back to rainbow sweatshirts, braces, and Sugar shoes. I can't explain to you exactly why I dug this song. Perhaps I got a false sense of female empowerment. Whatever the reason, it still doesn't take away from the greatness of this video.
3. The Guilty Pleasure:
Break the Ice - Britney Spears
I can't deny the greatness that is Queen Britney. She is the other Queen B in my life besides Lil' Kim. Just listen to it once. ONCE! People need to leave her alone!

Rickie Vasquez: 90s Icon

After a LONG weekend (Maribel and I took a weekend course), I re-discovered a beautiful jewel. After much research for our class presentation, I re-fell in love with an iconic character and and a particular scene.
My-So Called Life will forever be one of my favorite shows, it's so timeless and just truly truly amazing. Rickie Vasquez (played by Wilson Cruz...no relation to me, damn!) is a lovable friend that you care and worry for throughout the series (which only lasted one season boooooo!).
Rickie had style...he had pizazz...and he owned it! But one scene in particular just cemented the fact that Rickie was amazing in all aspects. His vest is amazing, he has the moves that make you want to run to Boxxes/Red Cap on a Friday night, and he just lets loose! He is so inspiring!

Secret Crush Alert: Dr. McSteamy

I used to think people who watched Grey's Anatomy were a bunch of tools. I hate being suckered into a pop culture phenomenon because it makes me feel like I have no brain. After doing a critical analysis of Dr. Torres' character and her bisexuality, I came across Dr. McSteamy AkA Mark Sloan. He is FOYNE. I don't normally like guero's, but this guy has it going on. You can't deny his dreaminess. If I were a man, he would make me question my sexuality. He's that pretty.
How could you leave him Callie Torres? I know you're experimenting with your sexuality, but atleast leave him for someone gorgeous and not this troll: Dr. Erica Hahn.

Below you will find the most inappropriate Youtube of Dr. Sloan and Dr. Torres getting it on. My bad if you're a minor or sensitive to sexual material, you should probably ignore this post then. But for those who are cool with it, you're welcome.
Style Icon: WEST SIDE STORY
These dresses are to die for. If you have never seen West Side Story, I suggest you get on it. This was one of my favorite musicals when I was younger. I wanted to BE Rita Moreno. Her character was sassy, colorful, and the ONLY Puerto Rican in the whole entire film! Natalie Wood was NOT Puerto Rican. That's messed up, huh? Don't let it get you down, just enjoy my favorite scene below and wish you had a lilac dress and shoes to match just like Rita.

Conan...End of an Era

I've been a Late Night w/ Conan O'Brien fan for ages. He's my favorite. I'm watching his last episode of LATE NIGHT EVER! I didn't even have time to deal with this. Conan is moving to California to do the Tonight Show. As much as I hate Jay Leno, a little piece of me does not want Conan to move to California. Conan has all that charm and pizazz in NYC. My dream was always to go to New York and watch the following shows: SNL, Maury, and Conan. Well maybe I'll do 2/3 one day.
Well Conan, I'll miss you at 12:35...I'm sure I'll follow you to 11:35 but it'll never be the same!!!

Give It Up For The Little Guy
The All-Star basketball weekend extravaganza happened over the weekend. I watched part of the game as well as the slam dunk contest (well an abbreviated version). All I have to say is Nate Robinson (who won the slam dunk contest) is super small yet flies like a bird. He was entertaining to watch...check it out:
I kept it real this weekend, I was just one of the dudes. Also, my cousin needs to understand that I have basketball knowledge all on my own. I can keep up, c'mon now.
P.S.
Nate Robinson reminds me of this little kid actor:
From G's to Gents

This MTV show, which I never even knew existed, is apparently on the 2nd season. I was being "a lazy" at Maribel's casa and indulging in her cable when I came across this show. It's basically a male version of VH1's Charm School. It puts a bunch of "G's" in a house and with the help of Fonzworth Bentley have the opportunity to turn into a "Gent." Basically every guy on this show is the most disgusting troll I have ever seen.
I began watching their antics and shenanigans and before I knew it, I knew most of their names. There were a couple of stand-out individuals (Dirty and Riff Raff). I'm not totally sure if they spoke English. Riff Raff actually had colored yarn braided into his hair for style purposes. Dirty, got so drunk he almost drowned someone followed by sitting on a fire pit.
This show is one big train wreck, but I couldn't stop watching it. Everyone must check out this hot hot hot mess of a program.
Health Is Important
Earlier this evening, Maribel and I had class but already knew our post-class plans: dinner. We were craving the same meal, the exact same meal. Yet, our drinks of choice needs to be shared with the blog. As you can see we only drink things that are colors found outside of nature and glow in the dark.
Mix-Great Monday: Marble$ Side
You've been waiting for this...my bad it's Tuesday.
Tsunami - RES
This song was my slow jam when I was 17 and still is. Res' album How I Do will forever be in my Top Ten of all time. It reminds me that deep down inside, I have a heart :)
2. The Throwback:
Only you - Yazoo
My favorite 80's love song. Don't hate on Yazoo! The album Upstairs at Eric's is brilliant! I can't tell you how many times I have sang this by myself in my car.
3. The Guilty Pleasure:
talk - timbaland ft t-pain
So uh, I've been in this Hip-Hop dance class the past couple of months and we always dance to this song. This class has been playing all of our guilty pleasures from the past Mix-greats! I get graded to dance to Timbaland, Pitbull, AND Baby Bash. Don't hate.

MIX-GREAT-$CRUZ is that really you? Yes.
I've been MIA, I know this. Life is crazy, and I'm trying to make a comeback...
Honeybear - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
JAMIE FOXX & T PAIN - BLAME IT - Various Artists
Lets do what we love, Mix-Great it.
1. Song That Speaks To My Soul
"Honeybear'"-Yeah Yeah Yeahs
I am, it's true...a fan of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I heart this song, it's fun to walk around to, it pumps up my life. I love Karen O.
Honeybear - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
2. The Throwback
"I Have Nothing"-Whitney Houston
One should never play Whitney Houston around me, especially The Bodyguard soundtrack. I don't care if you are in mid-sentence, if Whitney is playing in the background I will break into song for sure and not care about your feelings.
3. Guilty Pleasure
"Blame It"-Jamie Foxx
When I first heard this song I didn't want to like it. I was even mentally hating on it...it was so not original. But after constant rotation on Jammin' 107.5, I caved and it grew on me. So gross, but it totally happened. I'm not apologizing at all.
